And In The Darkness, Knockwood’s Aglow…
It was there, a crowded loosely cycling themed bar in Leith that the idea of Knockwood was born. The idea: A recording studio built for the artist. No grey walls, no limitations and a lot of synthesisers. Knockwood was born from the idea of merging our two gear-filled bedrooms. By the time we got the lease on the space we were both drowning in guitars, tape, cables and shakers. We had pushed the limits of what a single bedroom could be and it was time to move on. We sat, Amstel in one hand, pen in the other, drawing up a plan and list of requirements for our studio space. Working titles for the project flew around the air like bullets at the O.K Coral. Electric Jobbyland, Pre-Electric & Good Vibrations to name a few. Eventually it was settled that Knockwood was the name of our studio to be. The centre piece of our studio being a wonderful custom built walnut desk.
Over the several following months we, with the help of many friends and family members, built the studio…
